Celebrating Literacy, Community, and Little Readers

The commitment to early literacy in our community continues to shine through. Each year, Kiwanis Club of Conway Arkansas leads a meaningful effort to place bookcases filled with books directly into the hands of children in the CAPCA Head Start program—creating opportunities that extend far beyond the classroom.

This year’s event was another heartfelt reminder of why this project matters so much.

Families gathered to celebrate not just books, but the joy of learning together. A highlight of the event was a lively musical activity led by CCANA’s Carol Crockett, bringing energy, laughter, and connection to the children and their families. Moments like these help build positive associations with learning—something that lasts well beyond the day itself.

Our team at Child Care Aware was proud to continue supporting this incredible initiative. This year, we contributed books for every bookshelf, ensuring that each child left with resources they can call their own. We also continued a tradition that has become a favorite—creating personalized bookmarks for each child, adding a small but meaningful touch that makes reading feel even more special.

What makes this project so powerful is its simplicity: giving children access to books they can keep, in a space that belongs to them. A personal bookcase filled with stories becomes more than furniture—it becomes a gateway to imagination, language development, and lifelong learning.

Events like this reflect the heart of our community. They show what’s possible when organizations, families, and advocates come together with a shared purpose: helping children thrive.

We are honored to stand alongside the Kiwanis Club each year in support of this work. It’s not just a worthy project—it’s an investment in the future of our children, one book at a time.
